Case Study - Chemical Blending Facility Fire / Spill Release

Waxahachie, Texas

In October of 2011, a 100,000 square-foot chemical blending facility containing more than 200 chemicals caught fire during a blending process. Called to manage the incident, Forefront arrived on site while the fire was still burning and assumed control of the scene.

Forefront and ES&H of Dallas worked together via the 24/7 Incident Command Structure and coordinated with TCEQ, EPA, and OSHA during the event, while issuing daily Incident Action Plans. More than 100 frac tanks were used to store contaminated liquids, as well as 185 roll-off boxes to store fire debris impacted with chemicals. More than 2500 tons of contaminated soil were taken for disposal within 30 days of the event occurring.

For this project, Forefront committed 75+ personnel to overall site security, demolition - debris removal, air monitoring, industrial firefighting, recovery of liquid and solid waste, environmental sampling, transportation of waste streams, etc.
